The Holy Spirit carries out Christ’s work in the Church when persons are willing to answer God’s invitation to love Him and one another.

As Jesus Christ is the center of the History of Salvation, so the mystery of God is the center from which this history takes its origin and to which it is ordered to its last end. Our crucified and risen Lord draws men to the Father by sending His Spirit upon the Church.

The Holy Spirit was already at work in the world before Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. But to finish the work of the Salvation of all men, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit from the Father. The Spirit now carries out His work of Salvation in the souls of men and spreads the Church throughout the world.
