What did Jesus suffer upon the Cross?

Mission Lab

Jesus suffered inexpressible physical and spiritual agony upon the Cross.

Crucifixion was such a horrible instrument of death that the Roman authorities would not use it on their own citizens. Added to this torment was that indescribable pain of rejected love. He was rejected not only by those in Palestine, but also by all those who prefer sinful life-styles to the will of God.

Upon the Cross, Jesus suffered not only extreme physical pain, but also loneliness and desolation, and the anguish of seeing inexpressible sorrow in the one He loved most deeply, His Mother Mary.

Even in the terrible torment of those hours, Jesus, the Son of God and High Priest of our Salvation, retained patience and greatness of soul.
