Location

The Holy Family Fests happen at Catholic Familyland®—a place set apart for families and home of the Holy Family of Fatima Prayer Site. Some like to describe this 803-acre property, formerly a seminary, as “a piece of Heaven on earth.” It’s a place full of natural beauty and peace.

But there are also enough activities to keep even the most restless members of your family busy. Everyone is sure to find something they like on this Catholic family vacation!

Catholic Familyland is:

  • About 20 minutes from Franciscan University of Steubenville
  • Only 45 minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)

Our address:

3375 County Rd. 36
Bloomingdale, OH 43910

You’ll start seeing colorful flags and signs for Catholic Familyland when you are about 3 miles away! Once you arrive on the property, please follow the signs directing you to the appropriate check-in location.

You may choose to use Google Maps, but we recommend these directions in order to avoid windy, narrow, gravel roads. If you prefer Google Maps, see here.

      Check-In & Check-Out

      When is check-in?

We encourage you to arrange your travel plans so that you can be here in time for the Holy Family Fest opening Mass at 7:00 p.m.

If you know before the event that you will be arriving after 9:00 p.m., please let us know by emailing [email protected]. We’ll give you your lodging information in advance so that you can get settled as soon as you arrive. You can take care of required paperwork the next day, after the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass.

      • Any participant ages 18+ who has not provided a signed release form will not receive their name tag or wristband (required for event participation).
      • Non-family minors (ages 17 and younger) on your registration are required to submit the Child Release and Indemnification forms (2 forms) before participation in the event is possible. These forms must be completed by their legal guardian.

      When is check-out?

Please check out from your cabin or campsite on Friday, no later than 1:00 p.m.

Is there a shuttle service available?

We do not provide any type of shuttle service during our family events except for the teen and young adult evening programs. Catholic Familyland® has over 800 acres and two main event areas that are approximately 1 mile apart. Each day involves activities held in both event areas. There is a 20-30 minute hiking trail that connects the two areas. If you are flying to Catholic Familyland® via Pittsburgh International Airport, we recommend that you rent a vehicle for the week. If you are bringing an RV, we recommend bringing an extra vehicle for driving around the grounds.

Is childcare provided for children ages 3 and under?

At this time, we are NOT able to provide childcare for children ages 3 and under.

For your convenience, there is a play area for your babies and toddlers (0–3 years) in Redeemer Hall (next to St. Joseph Auditorium). This room has live video and audio feed of anything going on in the auditorium.

Is there Internet access at Catholic Familyland®?

During the Holy Family Fest, we encourage you to unplug as much as possible, so that you can get the most out of this time set aside to be with God and your family.

However, wireless internet is available in various places including St. Joseph’s Auditorium. If you have need of this during your stay, please stop by the information table or see one of our staff members for the password.

We are not set up to accommodate guests who need a private space for school or work. The signal for our guest wifi access varies depending where you are on our property and may go in and out. There is no guarantee of strong service. We have several quieter areas available on a first come/first serve basis.

How do you define modest clothing?

          • No revealing, low-cut shirts are worn.
          • All shorts are at least mid-thigh length.
          • Skirts are close to the knees.

We want to make your life as easy as possible this weekend, so we’re offering a meal package that includes 4 meals (Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday lunch). The only meal you’ll have to prepare is breakfast.

          • A tossed salad

          FOOD ALLERGIES

If you have any dietary restrictions, such as a gluten or milk allergy, please let us know when you purchase your dinner package. We will do our best to accommodate your dietary needs. However, in some instances, we may not be able to satisfy your needs. In this case, we will contact you and ask you to bring your own food. Cooking Your Own Meals

Of course, you can always cook your own meals during the Totus Tuus Family Conference. Meal breaks during the conference are about an hour long.

          Here are some helpful tips:

          • Plan your menu before you come. Try to stick to quick meals that everyone likes.
          • Pack an electric griddle, skillet, Crock-Pot, and/or portable camping grill to cook with.
          • Consider bringing frozen meals that you prepared ahead of time. This saves a ton of time!
          • Buy groceries after you get here, to save packing space and keep perishable items fresh. The nearest grocery store is about 15 minutes away.

You’ll want to make sure you have enough food for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners throughout the weekend.

          Packing

What kind of clothes should I pack?

When getting ready for the Totus Tuus Family Conference, pick out comfortable, modest clothing that you don’t mind wearing all day long. Fall in Ohio can be unpredictable, so you’ll want to prepare for the possibility of cool weather and rain.

Finally, you might want to pack clothing that is suitable for specific activities that will be going on during the conference. Here are some suggestions:

          • First Communion clothing (Children who have received their First Holy Communion this year are asked to participate in the Eucharistic Procession on Sunday.)
          • Knights of Columbus regalia (Knights are asked to participate in the Eucharistic Procession on Sunday.)

Are there any extra charges that I need to know about?

We do our best to keep extra charges to a minimum. You may purchase books and gifts at the Evangelization Bookstore or food and drinks from the concession stand. Everything else is included in your registration package!

Can we bring our bikes & fishing poles?

Yes! If you would like to bring your bikes, you may ride them in St. James Field and Holy Family Park. For your safety, please do not ride your bikes on the walking trails or the main road.

You are welcome to fish in St. Francis Lake, but you will need to bring your own bait and tackle. No fishing license is required as it is a private lake.

          Transportation

Is there a shuttle service available?

We do not provide any type of shuttle service during our family events except for the teen and young adult evening programs. Catholic Familyland® has over 800 acres and two main event areas that are approximately 1 mile apart. Each day involves activities held in both event areas. There is a 20-30 minute hiking trail that connects the two areas. If you are flying to Catholic Familyland® via Pittsburgh International Airport, we recommend that you rent a vehicle for the week. If you are bringing an RV, we recommend bringing an extra vehicle for driving around the grounds.

          Childcare, Internet, & Pets

Is childcare provided for children ages 3 and under?

At this time, we are NOT able to provide childcare for children ages 3 and under.

For your convenience, there is a play area for your babies and toddlers (0–3 years) in Redeemer Hall (next to St. Joseph Auditorium). This room has live video and audio feed of anything going on in the auditorium.

Is there Internet access at Catholic Familyland®?

During the Totus Tuus Family Conference, we encourage you to unplug as much as possible, so that you can get the most out of this time set aside to be with God and your family.

May I bring my pet to Catholic Familyland?

Sorry, for the health and safety of everyone who will be attending the Totus Tuus Family Conference, NO PETS are allowed on the grounds.

You can board your pets at one of these nearby kennels.
