Men's Youth & Young Adult Ministries Coordinator

Job Description

Position Summary:
The Men's Youth and Young Adult Ministries Coordinator assists with the planning and implementation of strategy and the day-to-day operations of the AFC's youth and young adult ministries, including our extensive summer youth and young adult volunteer missionary programs. The employee will work as part of a team, reporting to the Ministries Manager in running assigned ministries and will effectuate the intention and directions of the AFC's leadership team as they relate to youth and young adult volunteer involvement and education.

Reports To: Ministries Manager
Direct Reports: Volunteer Missionary Youth and Young Adult Corps, Seasonal Youth Department Employees
Exempt Status: Exempt
Position Status: Full-Time
Location: Bloomingdale, OH (on-site)
Salary Range: Salary dependent on experience

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, and training of new youth volunteers and seasonal staff members.
  • Works with Youth and Young Adult Ministries Manager to supervise, schedule, coach, and direct day to day work of youth volunteers.
  • Follows training and communicated policy regarding implementation of youth volunteer program activities.

Major Duties and Functions:

  • Employee will work with other Events and Human Resources staff to recruit, screen, and select candidates for volunteer youth programs.
  • Employee will work within guidelines set by AFC finance and development staff to train youth volunteers to be effective fundraisers, instructors, and advocates.
  • Employee will work with other Events and AFC staff to design, organize, and implement content for youth programming provided to AFC event and retreat attendees.
  • Periodic attendance at meetings or events and travel around the country and local community can be expected in this role.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to seek collaboration when necessary.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma and 2+ years of progressively responsible management experience or a 4 year college degree.
  • Previous youth ministry, counseling, or teaching experience may be substituted for formal education beyond a High School Diploma and for management experience at a 1:1 ratio.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee should be expected to experience prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and using a computer.
  • The employee will be occasionally required to stand and walk for 30 minutes or more.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to stand, reach, bend and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Specific vision and hearing abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision and ability to hear conversations in office and group settings.
