As a Service Corps missionary, you’ll get to do all of this (and more), while helping us to share God’s love with families through our Catholic Familyland® events. It will be summer you’ll never forget.

SERVICE CORPS FAQs
How do I apply to be a Service Corps missionary?
Submit the Service Corps online application HERE.
It will take about an hour to fill out your application.
Besides your name and contact information, there are a variety of short answer questions on the application. You might want to take some time to think about these questions before answering.
You’ll want to have the following ready when you apply:
- Names and contact info for 3 references
- Recent headshot of yourself (head/shoulders)
What is the commitment time frame?
Late May through mid-August.
That’s about 2.5 months.
Exact start and end dates are found in the application.
What are the housing and meal arrangements while I’m at Catholic Familyland®?
Service Corps missionaries live, work, and minister at Catholic Familyland® —a place set apart for families in Bloomingdale, OH.
~20 minutes from Franciscan University of Steubenville
~45 minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
We provide all of your living needs, including:
- Dorm-style room
- Food
- Some social outings
- Staff T-shirts and sweatshirts
- Personal needs
Dorm-style rooms mean that you can expect to share with at least one other Service Corps missionary of the same gender. Common bathroom with other missionaries who live in your hallway.
Common space for meals, movies, and social time.
What does a day as a Service Corps missionary look like?
SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Note: This is an example of a typical day of missionary formation. Your actual schedule will be different during AFC events.
- 7:00 a.m. Morning Prayer
- 8:15 a.m. Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
- 8:45 a.m. Breakfast
- 9:15 a.m. Work on assigned projects
- 12:00 p.m. Lunch
- 1:00 p.m. Work on assigned projects
- 3:00 p.m. Divine Mercy Chaplet
- 3:15 p.m. Work on assigned projects
- 5:45 p.m. Community dinner
- 6:30 p.m. Community time and/or formation
TASK EXAMPLES
The tasks that you will be assigned as a missionary will vary depending on your skills and the AFC’s current needs. Tasks could include:
- Event prep
- Cleaning
- Gardening
- Relational ministry
- Facilities management
- Food service
- Trash pick-up
- Prayer ministry
- Data entry
- Children's ministry
- Traveling to a remote event
- And much more…!
Whatever your assignment might be, you can work knowing that you are helping to build up the kingdom of God on earth.
What is the dress code?
Service Corps are required to follow a dress code for functional purposes and to be good representatives of the AFC’s mission. Specific guidelines will be provided during the application process.
What should I pack?
Packing for your time as a missionary is like packing for a really awesome adventure at Catholic Familyland®. A detailed list will be provided during the application process to help you make sure that you don’t forget anything.
