June 2020 Newsletter | Message from AFC President

Dear AFC Family,

Praised be Jesus Christ! Now and forever!

Tomorrow we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the AFC’s founding anniversary. Forty-five years ago, an ordinary couple, Jerry and Gwen Coniker, received a call to protect families from the challenges in society and strengthen them in the Catholic Faith through Family Consecration.

Since then, the AFC has been helping families grow together in truth and holiness through its various ministries and the generous support of its Members, staff, benefactors, and families that have been touched by the ministry. We can’t thank you enough. What a blessing it is that you are part of the AFC.

Amidst the current challenges that families, our nation, and the world face, we keep our focus on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and strive to belong entirely to Him through Our Lady and St. Joseph. We can be assured of what Jesus said to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque: “My Divine Heart is so passionately in love with humanity that it can no longer contain within itself the flames of its ardent love. It must pour them out through [you], and manifest itself to them with its precious treasures, which contain all the graces which they need to be saved.”

Trusting in this promise of the Sacred Heart and the protection of the Holy Family, we moved ahead with the Holy Family Fest℠ season. Praise God for clearing the way! We are just about to wrap up the first Holy Family Fest.

Our staff expanded dramatically last month with the addition of our 25 Alumni Corps and 24 Service Corps missionaries. This year we took a leap of faith to expand both of these groups. They have been working hard to prepare for your arrival and COVID-19 has made this extra challenging. Federal, state, and diocesean guidelines continue to evolve, so if you are coming to Catholic Familyland® this summer, please carefully review the information we have provided to ensure a safe environment for our staff and guests.

Registration for our Holy Family Fests continues, and we have some remaining funds to help families that would like to come to a Holy Family Fest, but need assistance. Please spread the word that these “Family to Family Gifts” are available, because we want as many families as possible to experience a life-changing encounter with God this summer..

Don’t give up recruiting families, clergy, and friends to join us this summer. Travel assistance is available for clergy and religious that may want to come. Many people have had to change plans for the summer and may now be able to come to Catholic Familyland.

Please continue to pray to St. Joseph, that the families will arrive safely, we will serve them well, and they will be protected from illness and anxiety. And continue to send us your prayer petitions! Jesus, we trust in You!

United in the Holy Family,

“Our culture is in dire need of families that are supported with opportunities to be together: loving and sharing time, joys and the faith. The Holy Family Fest meets this need like no other ministry I have ever known.” - Tim B.

We would love to hear your AFC story. Please share in the comments!
