When did Jesus start the Catholic Church?

Mission Lab

Jesus started the Catholic Church at the time of His Death and Resurrection, more than two thousand years ago.

Jesus earned for us the privilege of belonging to God’s holy family, the Church, by His death and Resurrection. In order to enter that family, we must have sanctifying grace, which we first receive at Baptism and which cleanses our soul from sin and restores our friendship with God.

By the power of Baptism, we become members of the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ. Thus we become united to one another through our union with Christ, Who is the Head of the Body. Incorporated into Christ, we are freed from sin’s dominion.
