Job Description
The Development Manager is responsible for effectuating the intentions and plans of the President and the AFC Board of Directors through increasing benefactor and organizational financial support. The employee will be involved in improving business functions of the Development Department and through the development of strategic plans, policies, and by communicating business needs to both internal and external parties. The Development Manager will be responsible for increasing the effectiveness of current fundraising and stewardship operations while simultaneously identifying, soliciting, and securing new sources of revenue.

Position Status: Full-Time
Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000 per year
Supervisory Responsibilities
Participates in the interviewing, hiring, and training of new department staff and volunteers as needed.
Participates in performance evaluations and coaching of department staff.
Participates in discipline and termination of department employees per AFC policy.
Participates in the implementation and roll out of AFC policies and organizational initiatives.
Major Duties and Functions
Current Donor and Department Stewardship
Employee will work with department staff, and AFC leadership to maintain and enhance current relationships and funding sources.
Employee will work to appropriately utilize department and organizational resources to carry on current components of the AFC’s annual operations campaigns.
New Revenue Identification, Solicitation, and Acquisition
Employee will work with AFC administration and department staff to identify and solicit funds from new revenue sources including a focus on growing individual donor engagement.
Employee will work with AFC administration and department staff to identify and solicit funding from foundations and for profit businesses including through, expanded grant writing and sponsorship outreach.

Education and Experience
College degree and 2+ years of progressively responsible management and project oversight experience.
At least 2+ years in a comparable position within a 501(c)(3) organization reliant upon benefactor support for operational funding.
Experience creating and running multiple active campaigns with a total revenue generation goal of $2,000,000 a year or more.
Physical Requirements
The employee should be expected to experience prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and using a computer.
The employee will be occasionally required to stand and walk for 30 minutes or more.
The employee may occasionally be required to stand, reach, bend and lift up to 30 lbs.
Specific vision and hearing abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision and ability to hear conversations in office and group settings.
Attendance at meetings or events and periodic travel around the country and local community may be required
